Garden Cities cycle ride: Letchworth to Welwyn Garden City
July 10 @ 11:30 am - 4:30 pm
A ride from the original Garden City in Letchworth to the upstart new one, Welwyn Garden City (WGC). To join the ride you will need to catch the train to Letchworth departing Hatfield 10:51; WGC 10:56, Wewlyn North 11:00 arriving at Letchworth at 11:20.
The ride will start from Letchworth station at 11:30. We will include the world’s first roundabout, a lunch stop in Old Stevenage and then National Cycle route 12 back to Campus West. A stop at Spokes Cycling cafe may be included if extra cake is required.
The ride is 17.5 miles long and climbs 845 feet of hills. We will not to leave anyone behind on the hills! From Willian to Graveley the route is a rough surface, so not a ride for thin tyres. From Stevenage to WGC is on road, so whilst supervised children are welcome, this is not one for the youngest.
Please remember to bring sun cream, a lock and puncture repair kit.
You are responsible for train tickets and train travel. Please ensure you allow time to buy tickets and get onto the platform, especially at WGC and Hatfield where you will need to use the lifts. A group save single ticket will get 3-4 riders 33% off.
NB: The train times are subject to confirmation as engineering works for 10th July are not yet available.
