Cole Green Way – resurfacing at Hertford Football Club car park

By | 31st March 2024

Work has just been completed at Hertford Football Club to probvide a tarmac surfaced road from the end of the Cole Green Way path to the bridge over the river Lea. Anyone who has ridden this section will know the car park for Hertford FC was full of pot holes, with the remains of a tarmac path around the outer edge, often unusable due to parked cars. This repair work has been financed by Hertfordshire County Council and also includes resurfacing of the rest of the road up to Horns Road.

Looking east towards Hertford (with the football ground on the left), the new road surface looks like this:

Looking in the oposite direction towards Welwyn Garden City we can see how the new surfaced extends up to the gate to the riding school. The Cole Green Way is the path beyond the gates.

Hertford FC have been reminded by Hertfordshire County Council that they are required to keep the right of way clear to allow access to the riding school and the Cole Green Way. If you find the new road surface being used for car parking or worse, blocked by parked vehicles, please take a photo and send it with information on what you see to chair@welhatcycling.org.uk We very much hope there will be nothing for you to report. Enjoy the smooth ride.
