Family ride – Colney Heath miniature steam railway
4th June 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Our annual ride to the miniature steam railway at Colney Heath. As it’s only three miles in each direction, this is suitable for youngsters able to cope with a bit of rough ground and the odd little hill.
We leave Hatfield town centre at 13:00 to give plenty of time to get to the railway for 14:00. Our route is along the traffic free Alban Way, a bit of rough riding on a bridleway, the bridge over the A414 longabout and then the quiet lane to the railway.
Our led ride is free, but there is a small charge for the train rides, payable at the venue. The site is run by the North London Society of Model Engineers. Usually there are two railways in operation, although we cannot guarantee what will be running. Do please expect a bit of queuing but you will also be seeing the trains go past. On site are toilets and, volunteers willing, a café which does tea, coffee and biscuits. If you want something more substantial best take it with you.
You can either return when you want or come back with the ride leader, Adam Edwards.
